Share the News: @BerkeleyCollege @HVIAC @USCAA #BerkeleyKnights The Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (HVIAC) announced its year-end awards for Men’s Soccer on November 2, 2019, and Berkeley College was well represented. The Knights’ Amadou Sy of Brooklyn, NY, and Dakar, Senegal, was voted HVIAC Player of the Year. Dario Cruz-Sepulveda of Guadalajara, Mexico; Benjamin Elvenes of Skien, Norway; and Jean-Gardy Derineau and Tcharly Verna, both of Valley Stream, NY, were tabbed as All-Conference players. “I am incredibly proud of Amadou, Jean-Gardy, Dario, Benjamin, and Tcharly for earning this well-deserved recognition,” said Stavros Zomopoulos, Head Coach, Berkeley College Men’s Soccer team, New York. “They are all team-oriented, hard-working student-athletes.” Mr. Sy is a graduate of Boys and Girls High School in Brooklyn, NY. Mr. Cruz-Sepulveda attended Instituto Thomas Jefferson in Guadalajara. Mr. Derineau and Mr. Verna are graduates of Valley Stream North High School. Mr. Elvenes is an alumnus of Skien Videregående Skole in Norway. The New York team captured its fourth HVIAC Championship title on October 27, 2019, defeating SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry by a score of 1-0. With the victory, the Knights earned an automatic bid into the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) Division II National Men’s Soccer Tournament as the No. 1 seed. The team will take on Southern Maine Community College on November 8, 2019, at 4:45 p.m. The Berkeley College Men’s Soccer team, New Jersey, earned an at-large bid to the USCAA Tournament, entering as the No. 3 seed following a 10-6-1 regular season. The New Jersey team will take on Johnson & Wales University – Charlotte on November 9, 2019, at 4:45 p.m. The tournament will take place at the Princess Anne Athletic Complex in Virginia Beach, VA.
