Author and broadcaster Steve Adubato visited Berkeley College in Woodland Park, NJ, on November 18, 2019, for a discussion with more than 100 students, faculty and staff about leadership. Mr. Adubato is the author of books including “Lessons in Leadership,” “Make the Connection,” and “You are the Brand,” and a host on public television networks including NJTV and Thirteen

“Great leadership is not about perfection, but about the constant pursuit of excellence,” Mr. Adubato said. “The great leaders I know never stop trying to be the best.”

Mr. Adubato engaged students on what qualities a leader should possess, such as flexibility, empathy and listening to others.

“Great leaders get comfortable being uncomfortable,” Mr. Adubato said. “If you don’t put yourself in an uncomfortable position, you won’t challenge yourself.”

He also discussed the legacies of leaders including Nelson Mandela and Martin Luther King, Jr., and encouraged student leaders to step up to serve the Berkeley College community, as well as their communities at-large.

“Great leaders make a difference and at Berkeley College you have the opportunity to do this,” he said.
