Keynote speaker Kevin Brauer, Chief Administration and Financial Officer of Affinity Federal Credit Union, shared his perspectives on corporate culture, leadership and digital transformation at New Jersey’s largest credit union at the virtual Graduate Symposium sponsored by the Berkeley College Larry L. Luing School of Business® on Tuesday, December 8, 2020. Brauer discussed how important agility and maintaining a humanistic approach are to a company’s employees and customers in the digital workplace environment.

“Lifelong learning can be accomplished by what you are doing now by going to school, but that is not going to be enough. You need to take advantage of every company-offered education program and challenge yourself to learn from others,” said Brauer.

Following his remarks, Brauer joined Joseph Scuralli, DPS, Dean of Online Education and the Larry L. Luing School of Business, who moderated the Symposium, and faculty in the Master of Business Administration (MBA) program for a conversation that included questions from the audience.

“The COVID-19 pandemic has changed the way we learn, the way we do business, and the way we plan for the future,” said Scuralli.

The interactive discussion addressed topics such as the new norms of corporate culture as a result of digital transformation and how to maintain an agile organization through rapid response and professional development.

Affinity is a member of the Berkeley College Corporate Learning Partnership program, which provides incentives to organizations to offer graduate and postsecondary educational opportunities to their employees.

Thirty Affinity employees are enrolled in the Berkeley College MBA program, and another 24 are enrolled in undergraduate programs. Brauer noted that as employees, students in the MBA program are better equipped with the knowledge and skills to solve real world problems.

“We are always trying to encourage our employees to think broader and bigger. Through the (MBA) program, they have been able to do just that ... It has led to better problem resolution and increased ideas on how to better serve the (credit union) member,” said Brauer.
