April 9, 2021
Dear Berkeley College Community,
Thank you to everyone who attended the COVID-19 Virtual Town Hall for Students on Tuesday, March 30, 2021. COVID-19 Vaccine Information The federal government has moved up its target date to Monday, April 19, 2021, for adults across the U.S. to be vaccine eligible. As of Tuesday, April 6, 2021, all New York State residents ages 16 and older are eligible for vaccination. You can schedule an appointment by visiting the state’s vaccine eligibility website or by calling 1-833-697-4829. As of Monday, April 19, 2021, all New Jersey residents ages 16 and older will be eligible for vaccination. You can schedule an appointment by visiting the state’s vaccine eligibility website or schedule an appointment directly at participating locations. For more information on what to expect at your vaccination appointment or after receiving your COVID-19 vaccine, please visit the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) website. The CDC has also created a vaccine finder tool to help you locate available vaccines within a set number of miles of your zip code. Travel Advisories Both New York and New Jersey have now updated their travel guidelines. Quarantine for domestic travel to New York is no longer required. Mandatory quarantine periods will remain in effect for international travelers. The New York State Department of Health, in alignment with CDC guidance, continues to recommend quarantining as an added precaution. In New Jersey, individuals no longer need to quarantine or get tested before/after domestic travel if they are fully vaccinated or have recovered from COVID-19 in the past three months if:
- It has been more than two weeks since you received your second dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna vaccine;
- It has been more than two weeks since you received your first and only dose of Johnson and Johnson’s Janssen vaccine; or
- You have clinically recovered from COVID-19 in the past three months.
- For international travel, the federal requirement for testing upon return to the United States still stands for both unvaccinated and fully vaccinated travelers.
Those who are unvaccinated and returning from states and territories beyond the immediate region should quarantine. Please note the New Jersey travel advisory was updated after the town hall event. All international travel must also be recorded in the Berkeley College Travel Registry. If you have any questions, please email us at: COVID19@BerkeleyCollege.edu. Stay safe and best wishes as you finish the winter semester. Sincerely, COVID-19 Task Force
