BERKELEY COLLEGE STUDENTS FROM SOMERSET AND SOMERVILLE  INDUCTED INTO NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETIES IN VIRTUAL CEREMONY

More than 150 Berkeley College students were inducted into six honor societies during a virtual ceremony this year, in keeping with adherence to the guidelines required for gatherings during the COVID-19 pandemic. The event was held on March 24, 2021.

“I am proud of our students and their accomplishments,” said Michael J. Smith, President of Berkeley College. “They have exhibited patterns of excellence that will serve them extraordinarily well over the course of their lives.”

The following students from Somerset County, NJ, have been inducted into national honor societies at Berkeley College:

  • Shardee Richardson of Somerset, Alpha Sigma Lambda
  • Leslie Santiago Solano of Somerset, Phi Theta Kappa
  • Shannon Porter of Somerville, Phi Theta Kappa

The Alpha Sigma Lambda National Honor Society was founded in 1945 to honor dedicated adult and non-traditional students who handle their life responsibilities while achieving and maintaining a high level of academic success. To qualify, students must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.2 or higher and must rank in the top 20 percent of their class.

The Phi Theta Kappa National Honor Society was established in 1918 to honor the academic achievement of students pursuing two-year degrees. To qualify, students must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher.
