Berkeley College Students from Queens Inducted into National Honor Societies in Virtual Ceremony

More than 150 Berkeley College students were inducted into six honor societies during a virtual ceremony this year, in keeping with adherence to the guidelines required for gatherings during the COVID-19 pandemic. The event was held on March 24, 2021.

“I am proud of our students and their accomplishments,” said Michael J. Smith, President of Berkeley College. “They have exhibited patterns of excellence that will serve them extraordinarily well over the course of their lives.” 

The following students from Queens in Queens County, NY, have been inducted into national honor societies at Berkeley College:

  • Tuva Stokkeland of Astoria, Alpha Phi Sigma
  • Toshauna Giddings of Queens Village, Phi Theta Kappa


The Alpha Phi Sigma National Honor Society was founded in 1942 to recognize academic excellence of undergraduate and graduate students of criminal justice. To qualify, students must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.2 or higher.

The Phi Theta Kappa National Honor Society was established in 1918 to honor the academic achievement of students pursuing two-year degrees. To qualify, students must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher.
