Women business owners seeking tools and insights to propel them forward in the wake of COVID-19 are invited to register for the 2021 Women Entrepreneurs Empowerment Summit (2021 WEES), to be held virtually on June 10, 2021, from 1:30 to 6:30 p.m. The third annual summit, THRIVE! Imperatives Shaping the Future of Women Entrepreneurs, is organized by Latinas in Business Inc. and co-sponsored by Berkeley College. Keynote speakers include Lucy Pinto, Program Manager, Grow with Google, and Alice Rodriguez, Chairwoman, U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. Susana G. Baumann President and CEO, Latinas in Business Inc., and Michael J. Smith, President of Berkeley College, will deliver welcome remarks.

“The support from leaders of this caliber show us that Latinas and other women entrepreneurs are a striking force in the U.S. economy, and they cannot be left behind,” Baumann said. “Organizations and leaders around the country need to work together to keep them not only surviving, but also thriving during the difficult pandemic economic transition.”

Summit workshops will focus on three essential areas of development: personal power, financial wellness and business innovation. Topics include resilience, self-care, sustainability, digital transformation, finding funding and growing your network.

Angela Harrington, Vice President, Communications and External Relations, Berkeley College, will moderate “Taking Care of Your Inner Self: The Road to Resilience,” with panelists Melissa Baralt, PhD, Berkeley College Master Faculty, Math and Sciences; Adel Wilson, MA, CEO and Founder, Celebrity Media Group, bestselling author, media coach and speaker; and Erica Sandoval, LCSW, Co-founder, Employee Network Allyance and President, National Association of Social Workers, New York City Chapter.

The program will close with the 2020-2021 Latina Leaders’ Awards ceremony, recognizing Wendy Garcia, Chief Diversity Officer, New York City Office of the Comptroller Scott Stringer, as the Small Business Champion.
