BERKELEY COLLEGE HOSTS FREE VIRTUAL SUMMER CAREER WORKSHOPS FOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS – REGISTRATION NOW OPEN
 
Workshops to be offered in fashion, national security, criminal justice, legal studies, graphic design, game design, business leadership, healthcare and interior design
 

 

Berkeley College invites high school students to explore dynamic professions during Career Week, from Monday, July 12, to Thursday, July 15, 2021.  Faculty and industry experts will discuss careers in fashion, national security, criminal justice, legal studies, graphic design, game design, business leadership, healthcare and interior design during a virtual Summer Workshop series. The 90-minute workshops are free, but registration is required.

Workshops will feature discussions with leading professionals and experiential learning activities.  Berkeley College students will also be in attendance to interact with the high school students.     

Topics include:

Fashion – Monday, July 12, 1 p.m.

This workshop will feature speakers from Macy’s, Calvin Klein, Free Assembly and the Donegar  Group. Diane Maglio, Professor, Fashion, Berkeley College Larry L. Luing School of Business®, will discuss sustainability and consumer spending post-pandemic.  

Legal Studies, Justice Studies and National Security – Tuesday, July 13, 1 p.m.

This workshop will feature speakers from the Superior Court of NJ in Passaic County, the Middlesex County Jail and the FBI. Gary Krulish, Chair, Justice Studies, Berkeley College School of Professional Studies, will share critical thinking questions that appear on police tests.  Patricia Greer, JD, Chair, Legal Studies, Berkeley College School of Professional Studies, will talk about opportunities in the area of legal studies.

Graphic and Game Design – Tuesday, July 13, 6 p.m.

This workshop will feature speakers from Tru Fragrance & Beauty, Materials, Inc. and Second Melody. At The Gallery at Woodland Park, Julia Hutchinson, Professor, Graphic Design,  Berkeley College School of Professional Studies, will show students’ work and talk about the Graphic Design program as well as career opportunities. On hand to demonstrate a game design will be Alethea Maguire-Cruz, Professor, Graphic Design, Berkeley College School of Professional Studies.  

Business Leadership – Wednesday, July 14, 6 p.m.  

This workshop will feature speakers from J.P. Morgan, World Financial Group and Astra Professionals.  Berkeley College professors will examine topics in leadership and motivation in business, such as how participants can inspire others to reach their full potential.

Healthcare – Thursday, July 15, 1 p.m.

This workshop will feature speakers from St. Joseph’s Hospital, Stamford Hospital and Precision Revenue Management.  Jose Montalvo, MD, Chair, Health Sciences, Berkeley College School of Health Studies, will give live demonstrations in the healthcare laboratories at the Woodland Park campus.  

Interior Design – Thursday, July 15, 6 p.m.

This workshop will feature speakers from de Le Cuona, GSN Interiors and DRP Interiors. At The Gallery at Woodland Park, Alfonso Torino, PhD, Chair, Interior Design, Berkeley College School of Professional Studies, will show students’ work and talk about the Interior Design program as well as  career opportunities. Scott Russell, Sales Director, de Le Cuona, will talk about his company’s worldwide presence in the interior design community.
