Berkeley College presented its inaugural Public Safety Award to New Jersey State Trooper Pierre Haddad on Wednesday, August 4, 2021, recognizing him for his heroism. Haddad made the news in December 2020 after he and another trooper revived a retired police sergeant following a crash on I-80.

The College also thanked Haddad for his service to its campus in Woodland Park, NJ, during his time as a volunteer emergency medical technician for the Borough. Haddad is stationed with Troop B of the New Jersey State Police in Totowa, NJ.

“We are proud to recognize Trooper Haddad for his distinguished service,” said Robert Maguire, Assistant Vice President, Berkeley College Public Safety and Emergency Management. “His unfailing commitment to the community makes him a role model for our students.”

Following the award presentation, the New Jersey State Troopers attended a luncheon with Berkeley College administrators and faculty from the Justice Studies – Criminal Justice program.

Berkeley College celebrates its 90th anniversary in 2021. The theme commemorating this milestone is “Empowering Lives for 90 Years!” Visit the 90th Anniversary webpage for more information.
