For the second consecutive year, U.S. News & World Report named Berkeley College (NJ) one of the Best Regional Colleges in the North in its 2022 edition of the Best Colleges Survey. Berkeley College (NJ) was also recognized for the first time as a Top Performer on Social Mobility among colleges in the region.

The publication ranked 1,466 colleges and universities nationwide. Berkeley College (NJ) was named No. 32 out of 57 schools on the Best Regional Colleges – North list and No. 29 out of 48 schools on the Best Regional Colleges – North, Top Performers on Social Mobility list. The North region includes colleges from the following states: Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and Vermont. In New Jersey, 16 institutions were acknowledged in the Best Regional Colleges – North and Best Regional Universities – North categories.

U.S. News & World Report evaluates schools on up to 17 measures of academic quality: average six-year graduation rate; average first-year student retention rate; a peer assessment survey of undergraduate academic reputation; faculty resources, like class size, faculty compensation and the student-faculty ratio; financial resources per student, or the average spending per student on instruction, research, student services and related educational expenditures; graduation rate performance, a measure of the actual graduation rate compared to predictions; student selectivity, like SAT scores, high school class standing and acceptance rate; social mobility, measured by the graduation rate of students who received federal Pell Grants; graduate indebtedness, which assesses the accumulated average of education loans students have to pay back after graduation; and average alumni giving rate.
