Berkeley College students pursuing degrees in Justice Studies, Legal Studies and Business learned how the New Jersey State Police shares intelligence with its public and private partners during a visit to the New Jersey Regional Operations & Intelligence Center (NJ ROIC) in Ewing, NJ, on November 18, 2021.
According to the State of New Jersey, the NJ ROIC is New Jersey’s fusion center, a joint interagency enterprise comprised of personnel from several law enforcement and public safety agencies, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation and U.S. Department of Homeland Security. The NJ ROIC is also the home of the State’s Office of Emergency Management.
“Field trips like yesterday’s visit to the NJ ROIC help students interact with what they are learning,” said Angelo Zecca, DsC, Professor, Justice Studies, Berkeley College School of Professional Studies. “The experience goes beyond the classroom setting – students can participate in it physically and ask direct questions to the experts in the field.”
“It was extremely rewarding for our students to get this up-close experience,” said Gary Krulish, Chair, Justice Studies, Berkeley College School of Professional Studies. “Berkeley College and the School of Professional Studies greatly appreciate the New Jersey State Police for providing us an opportunity to learn outside the classroom.”
