Newsweek and Statista, a global business data platform, have recognized Berkeley College Online® on their inaugural list of America’s Best Online Learning Schools of 2022. Berkeley College has been a leader for innovation and excellence in distance learning for more than 20 years.

“The higher education landscape has drastically changed since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Diane Recinos, EdD, Interim President of Berkeley College. “While some colleges struggled to pivot, Berkeley College’s 23-year tradition of excellence in online education offered students a seamless transition to remote learning. This recognition acknowledges the student support and value that is synonymous with a Berkeley College education.”

In addition to Berkeley College, nine schools from New York and two schools from New Jersey were recognized on the list.

According to Newsweek, the rankings are based on an online survey of 12,000 assessments from more than 9,000 respondents that participated in online college degree programs and/or general online learning courses in the United States. Respondents shared their experiences by rating the institutions regarding criteria including: organization and accessibility, support and service, cost of program, perceived organizational reputation, expected success and practical relevance of contents. Respondents also indicated how satisfied they were with the organization and to what extent they would recommend it to others.

“As of 2018, (the U.S. Department of Education) estimated, about 7 million college students were taking some or all of their classes online. The pandemic has only added to the growth of online education,” said Nancy Cooper, Global Editor-in-Chief, Newsweek. “The range of choices can be daunting. If you are looking for quality online education for yourself or a loved one, we hope you will find our listings helpful.”
