Members of the business community examined topics at the intersection of business and education during the North Jersey Chamber of Commerce Think TANK, held on Thursday, January 26, 2023, at Berkeley College in Woodland Park, NJ.

The audience heard from keynote speaker Michele Pillari, EdD, Woodland Park Schools Superintendent, who encouraged servant leadership to sustain an engaged workforce.

“If you believe in people, that’s where your sustainability will be,” Pillari said. “We must strive to raise one another up, we must support one another, we must listen to one another – especially our youth and the people coming into the workforce.”

Michelle Vernuccio, President, North Jersey Chamber of Commerce, said the Think TANK is one of her favorite Chamber events because it promotes teamwork.

“Collaboration is a crucial feature when it comes to networking,” Vernuccio said. “This fun event allows the guests to put on their thinking caps, collaborate on business ideas and expertise, and allows room for follow up – the essential key in networking.”

“The event brought together leaders in education and business and allowed them to share the value of further education and how it directly affects business growth,” said Mary Ann Chimento, Director, Corporate and Community Relations, Berkeley College. “These community events highlight the need for continued collaboration between Berkeley College and our corporate neighbors.”

Keith Kazmark, Mayor of Woodland Park, called the event a success.

“Not every municipality has the relationships that we are fortunate to have in our town,” Kazmark said. “We are always looking to do outreach to our business community and our nonprofit organizations because the words ‘it takes a village’ are really evident here in Woodland Park.”

LaTysha Gaines, Campus Operating Officer, Berkeley College in Woodland Park, said the College is proud of its partnership with the North Jersey Chamber of Commerce and was excited to host this annual event for the business community.

“This year’s Think TANK event was elevated to the next level with the inspiring and enlightening remarks of Superintendent Pillari,” Gaines said. “The event was outstanding!”
