City & State New York recently recognized Linda Mauro, Campus Operating Officer, Berkeley College in New York City, among its 2024 Trailblazers in Higher Education, honoring professionals “who are keeping New York at the fast-paced forefront of higher education.” Mauro is recognized alongside 100 college and university presidents and administrators, as well as nonprofit and community leaders.

“The professionals on City & State New York’s 2024 Trailblazers in Higher Education list exemplify how New Yorkers are meeting challenges, and then some,” said City & State in an article announcing the list. “New initiatives are lifting up underserved communities and creative initiatives are responding to the evolving needs of both employers and the workforce.”

Mauro began her career at Berkeley College in 2001 as the Director of Adult Admissions at the New York City campus, advancing to roles in admissions and campus operations. In 2014 she led renovations of the Berkeley College campus in Woodland Park, NJ, including the development of Renaissance Hall, a 35,000-square-foot hub for student services that increased student engagement and retention.

In her current role as Campus Operating Officer in New York City, she is active in creating partnerships with business organizations, building inroads for first-generation college students through real-world business experiences.

Mauro, who previously served as a fashion professional in sales and marketing, launched a designer-in-residence program, providing fashion visionaries with a Manhattan-based design showroom on campus while giving students access to internships and industry insights.

“I am a true believer in hands-on learning,” said Mauro, who serves as a mentor to nontraditional students, including the international and adult learners who frequent the New York City campus. “Education is not ‘one size fits all.’ Being adaptable opens up so many possibilities to those seeking higher education.”

Mauro has been recognized by the YWCA Academy of Women Leaders and has served in leadership roles with various chambers of commerce and Dress for Success, Northern NJ.  She is an alumna of the HERS Leadership Institute. In 2020 Mauro was honored as Woman of the Year by the Borough of Woodland Park, NJ. She is a resident of Wayne, NJ.
