The Berkeley College School of Health Studies honored a new cohort of healthcare heroes entering the workforce at a recognition and pinning ceremony for its nursing graduates on Friday, August 8, 2025, at Berkeley College in Woodland Park, NJ. The ceremony, hosted by Master of Ceremonies Angelica Delacruz , DNP, CPNP-PC, RN, CNE, CHSE, Chair, Nursing, Berkeley College School of Health Studies, recognized graduates of the College’s Licensed Practical Nurse to Bachelor of Science in Nursing (LPN to BSN) program.
“The work of a nurse is a life’s work of serving others,” said Patricia Greer, JD, Provost, Berkeley College.
“Today we celebrate not only your achievement, but a very important word: transformation,” said Mandanna Naleyanda, MD, CCMA, Interim Dean, Berkeley College School of Health Studies. “These moments are important mile markers of your endeavors, and it doesn’t stop here. The pinning ceremony is more than just a symbol, but rather it’s a promise – for you to serve, to care, and to lead with integrity and kindness.”

Student speaker Jenibeth Sosa of Hackettstown, NJ, imparted her own wisdom upon her peers: “While this is the culmination of our studies, this is not the end of our road. It is not about advancing our title; it is about deepening our understanding. Nursing is not just what we do. It is who we are. Nursing is more than just a profession – it’s heart, it’s grit, it’s humanity.”
“The Nurse Recognition Ceremony has been a rite of passage for as long as I can remember,” Delacruz said. “It signifies the end of your academic career and the entrance into your profession. For some it may be an advancement, but for all, it is a stepping stone. Regardless of what happens when you leave here, I am confident that you have learned what matters: the meaning of grit, persistence, caring, and resilience.”
