Higher Education and Business Excellence

NJBIZ recognized Kevin L. Luing, Chairman of the Board, Berkeley College, among the recipients of the inaugural NJBIZ Executive Excellence Awards during a ceremony on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, in Somerset, NJ. The program acknowledged more than 50 senior-level executives who have demonstrated “remarkable leadership skills, integrity, values, vision, commitment to excellence, company performance, and community service.” Luing is a resident of Mendham, NJ.

Luing was recognized for his decades-long commitment to higher education, business excellence, and community impact. Since officially joining Berkeley College in 1988, he has held various leadership positions, including 10 years as President and 24 years as Chairman. While consistently championing innovation throughout his career, Luing remains dedicated to upholding the values of putting the student first, embracing diversity, demanding integrity, and committing to continuous improvement. 

Luing is a member of the boards of the New Jersey State Chamber of Commerce, the Business Council of New York State, the Commerce and Industry Association of New Jersey (CIANJ), the Foundation for Free Enterprise, and the Berkeley College Foundation. He is a past president of the New Jersey Business/Technology Education Association and a former board member of the Business Council of Westchester, the Westchester County Association, the Middlesex County Regional Chamber of Commerce, the North Jersey Regional Chamber of Commerce, the North Jersey Regional Chamber of Commerce Foundation, the New Jersey Performing Arts Center Council of Trustees, the Bergen County Workforce Investment Board, and the Passaic County Workforce Investment Board. 

Luing is a graduate of the Leadership Morris and Leadership New Jersey programs. In 2013 CIANJ awarded him the Chairman’s Outstanding Leadership Award, and in 2016 the American Conference on Diversity awarded the Luing family the Legacy Humanitarian Award. 

Luing holds a Master of Business Administration in Marketing from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelor of Arts in Math and Computer Science and in Religion from Dartmouth College.
