The New Jersey Business & Industry Association (NJBIA) recently honored Berkeley College student Monserrat Miranda with its 2026 Rising Star Award, recognizing college students who exhibit future business leadership potential. Miranda was among six students to receive the recognition during the 12th Annual NJBIA Women Business Leaders Forum, held in Atlantic City, NJ, on September 23 and 24, 2026.

“NJBIA’s Rising Star awards honor students who have demonstrated a passion for their career path, academic success, and a commitment to volunteering in their communities during their undergraduate careers,” said Michele Siekerka, President and CEO, NJBIA. “This year, we are proud to recognize the accomplishments of six students who have distinguished themselves at New Jersey institutions of higher education and are destined for great professional success.”

Miranda serves as President of the Student Government Association at Berkeley College, where she works to increase student engagement on campus. She founded the Fashion Revolution Club to help her peers advance their fashion careers through guest speakers and professional development opportunities. The club also highlights the importance of professional attire, offering guidance on how to dress for the workplace and job interviews.

Miranda completed marketing internships with Prospanica, an organization for Hispanic professionals, and WindowsWear, which provides digital marketing and social media services for leading brands and retailers. She helped advance the global conversation on sustainable fashion as a student speaker during the United Nations High-Level Political Forum in July 2026.

Miranda was selected to present her research at the Middle States Commission on Higher Education Annual Conference and was named to the ALL IN Student Voting Honor Roll, recognizing college students nationwide who do outstanding work to advance nonpartisan democratic engagement on campus.

A resident of Garfield, NJ, Miranda will complete a Bachelor of Business Administration in Fashion Merchandising and Management at Berkeley College in December 2026.
