Computer System and Course Requirements

In order to take an online course, you will need to meet the following minimum computer requirements:

PC System Requirements

  • 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor
  • 1 gigabyte (GB) RAM (32-bit) or 2 GB RAM (64-bit)
  • 16 GB available hard disk space (32-bit) or 20 GB (64-bit)
  • DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM 1.0 or higher driver
  • Sound card with speakers
  • Microphone
  • Keyboard and Mouse
  • Webcam
  • High Speed Internet Access (Cable, DSL, or FIOS)

Mac System Requirements

  • 32- or 64-bit new Intel Based iMAC, Mini Mac, MAC Pro, MacBook, or MacBook Pro
  • 32-bit display adapter
  • 2 Gigs of available disk space or higher
  • 1 Gig of RAM (2 gigs recommended)
  • CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive
  • Sound card with speakers or headphones
  • Microphone
  • Video adapter and monitor with 1024x768 or higher resolution
  • Keyboard and Mouse
  • Webcam
  • High Speed Internet Access (Cable, DSL, or FIOS)

Software Requirements

Course-Specific Software Requirements

All of the following software programs listed below with the noted exceptions will be available through our online virtual lab for students taking online courses. (Graphic Design requirements are broken out separately.) Accessing the virtual lab is slower than having the software installed on your own computer and requires a high-speed internet connection. Student versions of most of the software listed are available for purchase at berkeleystore.berkeleycollege.edu.
