Registration is open for “The Future is Women,” Berkeley College’s annual Women’s Entrepreneurship Week (WEW) event. The conference, which is co-sponsored by media partner City & State, will be hosted in a hybrid format from Tuesday, October 19 to Thursday, October 21, 2021. Additional sponsors include Johnson PR and Events, Newark Symphony Hall, Eastern Funding LLC, Pinnacle Construction Group, and Celebrity Media Group.

Since 2015, Berkeley College’s WEW has featured a wide range of diverse leaders in government, business and media who have shared resources for success in rebuilding the economy, fixing the broken rungs of the career ladder, and converting pivotal moments into opportunities.

“As Women’s Entrepreneurship Week at Berkeley College enters its seventh year, our theme, ‘The Future is Women,’ says it all,” said Angela Harrington, Founder, Women’s Entrepreneurship Week, and Vice President, Communications and External Relations, Berkeley College. “Through a partnership with City & State, we are bringing together some of the most diverse, influential and courageous women charting a new course for business, public health, government, gender equity and social justice.”

This year’s summit will feature prominent leaders effecting change in New York and beyond, including keynote addresses on Wednesday, October 20, by Juanita N. Holmes, Chief of Patrol, New York Police Department (NYPD), Barbara Sampson, MD, PhD, Chief Medical Examiner, City of New York, and Kimberly Jean-Pierre, New York State Assemblywoman, District 11, and on Thursday, October 21, by Grace Meng, United States Congresswoman, 6th Congressional District of New York. Holmes is the first woman to serve as Chief of Patrol for the NYPD, the largest police force in the country, managing the approximately 20,000 uniformed officers who patrol the City. Sampson is the first woman to lead the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, which serves public health and the criminal justice system with the most advanced forensic science and operates the nation's largest DNA laboratory. Jean-Pierre who was elected in the 2014 General Election, serves the 11th Assembly District and has a long record of public service in the Long Island region. Meng, who is in her fifth term in the United States House of Representatives, is the first and only Asian American member of Congress from New York State and the first  Congresswoman from Queens since former vice presidential nominee Geraldine Ferraro.
