City & State New York has recognized Dallas Reed, PhD, Vice President, Student Development and Campus Life, on its 2021 Responsible 100 list, honoring those at the forefront of the corporate social responsibility movement. City & State presented awards to leaders of New York’s business, nonprofit and academic communities during a luncheon at Sony Hall in Manhattan, NY, on Wednesday, December 15, 2021.

“These leaders – in business, government, nonprofits and advocacy – exemplify the optimism and idealism that make New York a national leader, especially as partisan gridlock hinders the nation’s ability to contend with an unending pandemic, heightened racial tensions and a rising climate crisis,” said Tom Allon, President and Publisher, City & State New York, in a special issue of the magazine.

Other honorees included J. Phillip Thompson, Deputy Mayor for Strategic Policy Initiatives, New York City Mayor’s Office, and Kathryn Wylde, President and CEO, Partnership for New York City, who delivered remarks during the ceremony. Click here to see a full list of honorees.

In her role as Vice President, Student Development and Campus Life, Reed provides vision and direction for all student success programs at Berkeley College, including volunteerism, athletics, counseling and more. Under her leadership, the College opened a food pantry for students at its Newark campus in 2019 and at its Midtown Manhattan campus in February 2021.

Reed is also Co-Chair of the Berkeley College Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Task Force, ensuring the College remains responsive to local and national challenges of racial equality, systemic racism and social justice.

“The focus of my leadership is to create an environment that supports student success, encourages and stimulates student learning and personal development through collaboration,” Reed said. “Tapping into the potential of students has proved rewarding and inspiring, because oftentimes they are not aware of the greatness that exists within them already.”

Reed has served as an administrator at Berkeley College for more than 10 years. She was recognized by the YWCA at the 42nd Annual Academy of Women Leaders Salute Luncheon in 2015. She holds a PhD in Urban Higher Education from Jackson State University in Jackson, MS; a Master’s of Science in Organizational Leadership from Pfeiffer University in Charlotte, NC; and a Bachelor of Arts in General Arts and Sciences with an emphasis in Public Relations and Management from Pennsylvania State University in University Park, PA.

Berkeley College celebrates its 90th anniversary in 2021. The theme commemorating this milestone is “Empowering Lives for 90 Years!” Visit the 90th Anniversary webpage for more information.
