The New Jersey Business & Industry Association (NJBIA) recently honored Berkeley College alumna Alusha Olivier with its 2025 Rising Star Award, recognizing college students who exhibit future business leadership potential. Olivier was among five students to receive the recognition during the 11th Annual NJBIA Women Business Leaders Forum, held in Somerset, NJ, on September 17 and 18, 2025.
“NJBIA’s Rising Star Awards honor students who have demonstrated a passion for their career path, academic success, and a commitment to their communities during their undergraduate careers,” said Michele Siekerka, President & CEO, NJBIA. “This year we are proud to recognize the accomplishments of five inspiring students who are destined for great professional success.”
Olivier, a resident of Irvington, NJ, received an Associate in Applied Science in Justice Studies – Criminal Justice from Berkeley College in August 2025. She served as President of the Student Activities Board and as a campus representative of the Justice League Club, where she organized campuswide social and educational events. Olivier was regularly named to the Berkeley College Dean’s List for high academic achievement. She served as a volunteer with the Community FoodBank of New Jersey, the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), and other community organizations.
Earlier this year, Olivier’s leadership was recognized by iHeartMedia when she received the Rising Star in Business Award during its annual International Women’s Day celebration. The award is presented to a student who demonstrates passion, resilience, and a pursuit of greatness on campus and for their future career.
Olivier is pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and recently completed a summer internship at the Mercer County Courthouse. She aspires to become a civil attorney where she can use her voice to uplift others and strengthen her community.
